Morgenthaler, a middle-market management buyout and venture capital firm, announced on October 1 the appointment of Daniel Farrar as a partner in its buyout group. Farrar joins Morgenthaler from a 16-year career at General Electric, where he was most recently president and chief executive officer of GE Fleet Services for all of Europe. Farrar will be responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence, transaction analyses, and portfolio management across industries. Prior to joining Morgenthaler, Farrar was president and CEO of GE Fleet Services, Europe, covering 27 countries. This business is a division of one of the largest corporate fleet management companies in the world with more than 1.4 million cars and trucks under lease and service management globally. Farrar spent 16 years at GE in a number of executive positions, including: GE Fleet Services' senior vice president of North American operations and managing director and group general manager of United Kingdom and Ireland. He also worked three years at Corporate Decisions, Inc., a Boston management consulting firm, as a strategic consultant. In addition, Farrar held executive management positions in GE's consumer electronics and corporate business development divisions. Farrar has a BS in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a MBA from Harvard University.
