DETROIT - Although reports are circulating about General Motors reviving the discontinued Pontiac brand's G8 as a Chevrolet Caprice model, GM officials say it may be too early to tell if the G8 will actually be re-branded as such.

According to Dana Hammer, law enforcement vehicles manager for GM Fleet & Commercial Operations, "It is premature to speculate on whether the G8 will be salvaged and what the car's name might be as a Chevrolet. It could be months until a final decision is made."

The Wall Street Journalreported the G8 would take on the Caprice moniker that adorned Chevrolet models for four decades.
