Piedmont Natural Gas Near CNG Conversion Goal

North Carolina-based Piedmont Natural Gas is near its goal of converting 30 percent of its fleet to compressed natural gas (CNG), according to the company's 2015 Sustainability Report.
As of Oct. 31, 2014, the energy services company had converted about 300 vehicles — or 28 percent of the fleet — to natural gas vehicles (NGVs), displacing the equivalent of 200,000 gallons of gasoline, according to the report. All but one of the NGVs are light- and medium-duty vehicles, a company spokesperson added.
Piedmont also has a network of public-access CNG refueling stations, including its 10th station scheduled to open in September in Anderson, S.C.
The report — the third in a series published every two years since 2011 — looks at Piedmont's efforts to integrate environmental, social, and economic sustainability into all aspects of its business operations, the company said.
Piedmont distributes natural gas to more than 1 million residential, commercial, industrial, and power generation utility customers in parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
