The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has approved 10 funding requests, including one for an propane autogas nozzle incentive program.
PERC will allocate $500,000 for a pilot program that will give qualifying marketers an incentive to help their customers replace older autogas nozzles with new, lower-emission autogas refueling equipment, the council announced.
Meeting for the first time since the end of a restriction on its consumer education activities, PERC also announced that it would form a marketer-led task force to develop a communications plan designed “to inform and educate the public about safety and other issues associated with the use of propane,” a goal of the Propane Education and Research Act of 1996.
Task force members will be appointed by the PERC chairman, and the group will be led by the chairman of the market outreach and training working group of the PERC advisory committee, the council added.
