PENSACOLA, FL – The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA), which is purchasing 50 new refuse trucks powered by compressed natural gas, has finalized a 10-year fuel agreement with CNG provider Energy Services of Pensacola (ESP), NorthEscambia.com reported.
The agreement calls for ESP to build a fast-fill CNG station on ECUA property on Godwin lane in Pensacola, Fla. ESP, which will operate the station, confirmed that the fueling facility will be open to the public and other fleets. Construction is expected to be complete by July of this year.
Delivery of the new CNG-powered refuse trucks is also expected in July. ECUA expects the CNG trucks to save the agency more than $350,000 in maintenance costs and more than $1 million in fuel costs annually.
ECUA, a local government body, provides sanitation and water services for Escambia County and the city of Pensacola.
