CORTE MADERA, CA – Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines has launched a new trans-Pacific transport service route for automobiles, buses, trucks, and/or other large and oversized cargo from a homeport in San Diego to Hawaii. The newly christened M.V. Jean Anne is the first of two Pasha Hawaii 579-foot Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessels, designed to accommodate up to 3,000 vehicles. Sailing from Pasha Hawaii’s National City terminal in the Port of San Diego, the Jean Anne will berth at three Hawaiian ports: Kahului, Honolulu, and Hilo. The company has 349,000 square feet of processing facilities under cover at its San Diego port facility. A growing demand for the movement of automobiles and trucks between Pacific Coast Ports and Hawaii, coupled with the declining Roll-on/Roll-off capacity in the trade, has created a need for purpose-built PCTC vessels in this market, according to the company Web site. The vessels will also be enrolled in the military's Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement (VISA) and will be eligible to carry Department of Defense-sponsored vehicles and rolling stock. Pasha Hawaii is a joint venture between The Pasha Group, a California-based automobile handling and logistics company, and Strong Vessel Operators LLC (SVO), a Connecticut-based ship owner. The Pasha Group has been involved in cargo handling/logistics and terminal operations for nearly 60 years, with current port facilities at the ports of San Diego, Los Angeles, and Baltimore.
