One in Four Americans Texts While Driving
CAMBRIDGE, MA – A recent survey of 4,800 participants conducted by Vlingo revealed more than one out of four people confess to text-messaging while driving.
CAMBRIDGE, MA – A recent survey of 4,800 participants conducted by Vlingo revealed one out of four people confess to texting while driving.
Sixty-percent of all mobile phone users text, the survey found.
Twenty-six percent of those surveyed said they could not resist a bit of texting while driving, according to the survey results. Tennessee had 42 percent of participants admit to the dangerous driving distraction.
State laws prohibiting the practice and high-profile accidents has not seemed to impact the rate of people texting while driving, which remains the same as a year ago, according to company officials.
Last year, 25 people were killed in a California rail crash because the driver was sending text messages on his mobile phone during working hours.
