Gov. Robert Taft has introduced the oplates.com Web site, the state of Ohio’s online license plate renewal system. oplates.com, created by cboss Internet, allows Ohio drivers to renew their license plates for one or more vehicles with a click of the mouse. oplates.com makes buying special plates like the personal-ized, logo, and initial reserve plates, an easy-to-use process. A special site function allows vehicle owners the option to view several selections before purchasing plates. License plates featuring favor-ite sports teams and college alma maters are also available. Names and initials can be added to these plates as well. To enter the system, the site requires the license plate number and the last four digits of a person’s social security number only. These numbers can be found on the vehicle registration renewal notice that drivers currently receive in the mail prompting them to renew their plates. After a selection is made, plates will arrive at the vehicle owner’s residence in about seven to 10 days. cboss Internet operates more than 700 corporate and government sites in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Colorado, Rhode Island, and Florida.
