NHTSA Scraps Window Reversal Rule, Delays Rear-view Camera Regulations
WASHINGTON - NHTSA decided to scap the rule that would have required automatic window reversal in vehicles.
WASHINGTON -In a recent decision the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) decided to scrap the decision that would have mandated automatic reversal of power windows, which can be raised and lowered via the touch of a switch, Bloomberg reported. This regulation was designed to prevent injuries, but automakers were concerned about greater potential for vehicle theft.
In addition, NHTSA has requested an extension for the creation of the regulations that mandate rear-view cameras in vehicles by 2014, as reported by USA Today.
