The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received nearly 1,800 comments, mostly complaints, since it requested public comments about high-intensity discharge headlights, USA Today reported. The paper said NHTSA could overhaul headlight regulations, and possibly ban the lights on future vehicles. Oncoming motorists have complained about being uncomfortable about the glare from the lights, according to recent studies, but there is no evidence the glare is disabling. The number of comments may be a record, and is more than double the number of comments received on other issues such as air-bag cutoff switches, USA Today said.
