New Smartwatch Designed to Boost Trucker Wellness
Research shows that long-haul truck drivers are more likely to smoke, be overweight, and less likely to be physically active compared to other U.S. workers. Garmin’s new smartwatch aims to motivate truckers to engage in healthy practices.

Long-haul truck drivers are twice as likely to be obese compared to other U.S. workers, according to a survey conducted by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Now, there is a new fitness watch on the market from Garmin that is specifically designed to boost wellness for truckers.
The Instinct 2–dēzl edition encourages a healthy over the-road lifestyle, according to the manufacturer. The new smartwatch allows drivers to monitor their health around the clock by tracking heart rate, sleep, stress, and more.
The NIOSH survey found that three out of four truck drivers did not get the recommended amount of physical activity. Only one out of four men and one out of five women drivers said they exercised for 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

The watch features purpose-built workouts to assist truckers on the job.

Garmin’s Instinct 2–dēzl edition could help remedy that. When truck drivers step out of the cab, they can benefit from purpose-built workouts specifically crafted on the watch to fit their daily routine on the job. Short-break workout tutorials can be viewed on an app via the smartwatch.
The sedentary nature of long hauls can be physically demanding, and the watch promotes healthy practices while truck drivers perform their vital daily job functions. Other wellness features offered via the smartwatch include daily break reminders, hydration and Pulse Ox readings for altitude and sleep monitoring, and daily step tracking.
