Danish manufacturer H2 Logic has developed a hydrogen fueling station that triples the fueling capacity of the company’s previous station while also reducing its footprint to one-third.

The H2Station CAR-200 enables nine times more capacity per area use than the previous CAR-100 station. The increased capacity is an essential part of integrating hydrogen fuel at conventional gas stations, according to H2 Logic. The new H2Station station is the result of more than three years of ongoing development.

The new station can provide a peak rush-hour capacity on one fueling hose that's similar to conventional gas stations. This will enable a flexible scaling of capacity as demand grows, according to the company. The company also developed a new hydrogen dispenser with a footprint of one-third of conventional dispensers.

The CAR-200 builds on the foundation of the CAR-100, which is used in several European countries and has a documented high performance with close to 99% availability.

The station is designed for lean volume manufacturing at H2 Logic’s forthcoming hydrogen refueling station factory. When ramp-up and plant optimization is complete, the facility will have a name-plate production capacity of up to 300 refueling stations per year, sufficient for refueling 200,000 new fuel cell electric vehicles annually.

The first customers of the CAR-200 will receive the dispenser during the second half of 2016.
