GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — DaimlerChrysler announced that on March 3, at the 2005 Geneva motor Show, it presented the new F-Cell, built on the Mercedes-Benz B-Class. These new fuel cell vehicles show that sporty, dynamic driving is possible with emission-free operation. The operating range has been increased to almost 250 miles (400km). DaimlerChrysler engineers have been working since 1990 on an automotive application of fuel-cell technology. In 2003, DaimlerChrysler put more than 100 fuel cell vehicles into service in everyday application, and those vehicles are providing DaimlerChrysler engineers with information for the ongoing development of this future-oriented technology. Mercedes-Benz put Citar city buses with fuel cell drive into 10 major European cities as well as in Perth, Australia, and Beijing, China, for testing in varied climatic conditions.
