A new CD that explains the FleetMinder customized fleet management system is now available from Federal Signal Corp., the company announced on May 25. FleetMinder allows municipalities and contractors to track their vehicle use via satellite technology, providing records of machine activity, and improving fleet cost efficiency and productivity. FleetMinder is the first system to incorporate fully automated GPS (Global Positioning System) and mapping capabilities to monitor and record systems and functions on street sweepers, sewer cleaners, vacuum loaders and refuse vehicles. FleetMinder provides reports of machine usage and activity, including dates, times and locations that vehicles start, drive, idle and stop. Vehicle mileage, speed and functions, such as when sweeper brooms are running, are also recorded. FleetMinder is available as a factory option on any of Federal Signal’s complete line of Elgin street sweepers, Leach and Wittke refuse vehicles, Vactor sewer cleaners and Guzzler vacuum loaders. Previously manufactured equipment can be retrofitted to add the FleetMinder system.
