New Efforts Revealed in Pennsylvania to Reduce Emissions and Use of Foreign Oil

HARRISBURG, PA – State Rep. Stan Saylor, R-Windsor Township, revealed a new effort to provide an incentive for the use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel in Pennsylvania and decrease the use of foreign oil, according to news source York Daily Record.

The proposed legislation — House Bill 2251 — would introduce the “Keystone Vehicle Program,” which will encourage the conversion of commercial vehicles into natural gas vehicles, therefore easing the financial burden surrounding elevated fuel costs, said the Daily Record.

Through this legislation, the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Clean Air Fund would also allocate, for five years, $6 million in grants for growing Pennsylvania’s natural gas filling station network and to further integrate natural gas vehicles.
