Four mobility startups will test their technology, some of which is fleet focused, and explore partnerships with several companies with focus on global mobility, alt-fuel usage, and other future transportation services.
Avis Budget Group, IBM, and Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi will collaborate with the startups during the Mobility Tech Innovation Collaborative’s 12-week program, which was established by BP and RocketSpace, founders of the program, according to a release from BP.
The four global startups include Immense Simulations, Parkofon, Spark, and Fleetonomy, according to a release. Each startup will provide real-world proof-of-concept opportunities to test their products with corporates that could lead to expanded pilots, future partnerships or investments.
BP previously invested $5 million in FreeWire Technologies Inc., a U.S.-based manufacturer of mobile electric vehicle (EV) rapid charging systems, to roll out FreeWire’s Mobi Charger units for use at selected BP retail sites in the UK and Europe during 2018. FreeWire was selected through a previous collaboration with RocketSpace.
Immense Simulations is a software company that aims to revolutionize how transport stakeholders use simulation to make fast informed decisions associated with the movement of people and goods around the transport system; Parkofon is an automated parking payment and guidance platform based on innovative GPS-based technology and Big Data analytics; Spark uses AI-based journey prediction software to help electric vehicles go further between charges; and Fleetonomy offers artificial intelligence-based solutions to enable fleet owners, OEMs and mobility service providers to maximize their fleets by enhancing efficiency.
New, tested solutions will be presented at a demonstration day in December.
