Mitsubishi Recalls Cars, SUVs for Possible Stalling
The recall, which includes 2008-2011-MY Lancer compact cars, will address a problem linked to worn drive belts and pulleys.

Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling 65,923 cars and SUVs manufactured with 4B1 engines because of a potential problem with the engine pulley and belt arrangement for turning the alternator, cooling fan and — if so equipped — power steering pump.
The recall covers 2008-2011 model-year Lancer, Lancer Evolution and Outlander vehicles, as well as 2009-2011 Lancer Sportback and 2011 Outlander Sport vehicles.
In these vehicles, the pulley may be prone to extensive wear and allow the belt to detach, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports. If this occurs, the battery may discharge and trigger an engine stall.
To resolve the problem, Mitsubishi dealers will replace the drive belt with a rubber belt. If the drive pulley is excessively worn, it will also be replaced.
