MG Motor Australia has extended its Hotel ChargeHub Partner Program to major metropolitan centers across Australia, with electric vehicle (EV) charging stations installed in as many as 1,000 locations throughout the country over the next three years.

With up to 3,000 units offered across Australia and New Zealand, the infrastructure will support local businesses, including hotels and resorts, based in city centers and hubs—a multimillion-dollar investment by UK-based MG Motor.

“In Australia, purchase price is the biggest barrier to adoption of electric vehicles, closely followed by concern at the lack of public charging infrastructure,” said Peter Ciao, CEO for MG Motor Australia and New Zealand. “The extension of our Hotel ChargeHub Partner Program demonstrates our commitment to supporting Australian communities, by providing businesses and consumers alike with the necessary infrastructure to support the transition to electric.” 

New of the extension follows the launch of MG Motor’s 2022 ZS EV, currently among Australia’s most affordable electric vehicles, with the entry-level Excite model priced at $44,990 driveaway. 

The new EV charging network will be delivered to operators throughout the country. Successful applicants must pay a one-time $330 administration fee inclusive of taxes but will save upwards of $1,660 off the recommended retail price for a single EV charging unit.

Available in 7-kW single-phase and 11-kW three-phase configurations, the MG ChargeHub typically retails at $1,990 and $2,090 respectively. Compatible with all Type-2 port-equipped EVs, the chargers comply with the Open Charge Point Protocol and may be installed with third-party software to provide operators a guest-charge option. Up to three units are available per approved destination.
