Merchants Honored for Innovation Initiative

Merchants Fleet was awarded for achievements in innovation in 2019, particularly for its INNOV8 program that launched in January 2019.

The fleet management company was among nine other companies that Innovation Leader recognized for achievements related to their corporate innovation programs, according to media and events company. Merchants was selected from a larger pool of 23 companies, and was a finalist in the Best New Initiative category.

The INNOV8 program has included design thinking training based on Stanford’s open source curriculum; a peer-to-peer innovation coaching academy; a quarterly innovation award for individuals and teams; and a partnership with Southern New Hampshire University to envision how the fleet management industry will change over the coming decade, according to Innovation Leader. These initiatives resulted in an improvement in how older fleets vehicles are sold and ways for neighboring companies or universities to share one another’s fleets, reducing costs.

Other winners for the award included Adtalem Global Education, Robert Bosch GmbH, Citi Ventures, Delta Cafés, Duke Energy, Houston Methodist, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
