Mercedes plans to launch a global charging network, starting in the U.S. and Canada this year, followed by other regions in the world, with the goal of establishing a full network of 10,000 high-power chargers by the end of this decade “when Mercedes-Benz intends to go all-electric wherever market conditions allow.”

By 2027, the company plans to have a network of more than 400 stations across North America with more than 2,500 high-power chargers. Depending on region and location, the stations will offer four to 12, and ultimately up to 30, high-power chargers with a maximum output of 350 kW of charging power.

The charging network will give priority to Mercedes drivers, providing preferential access and other benefits, but the network will be open and accessible to all brands with compatible technology. The charging station communicates directly with a Mercedes EV through the Plug & Charge function. Mercedes drivers can pay through the Mercedes me Charge service, while drivers of other EVs will have different payment options.

The charging stations will be located in key cities and metropolitan areas, close to major roads and retail and service destinations, including participating Mercedes-Benz dealerships.

The collaboration partners include MN8 Energy, a solar energy and battery storage owner-operator in the U.S., and ChargePoint, an EV charging network technology company.
