DaimlerChrysler announced that Mercedes-Benz will begin building the new Grand Sports Tourer (GST) crossover wagon in late 2004. Mercedes-Benz will also start selling the GST in the U.S. around the same time, according to recent news reports. The GST fuses style elements of different vehicles - a touring car, station wagon, large-capacity vehicle and sport-utility vehicle, DaimlerChrysler said, putting in the crossover category. The automaker said it is expanding its Tuscaloosa, Ala. facility ahead of production.
