Menards Fleet to Run 140 Ford F-150 Pickups on Propane Autogas
NEW HUDSON, MI – Icom North America announced an installation program for 140 propane autogas Ford F-150 pickup trucks for use by Menards home improvement stores throughout Illinois.
NEW HUDSON, MI – Icom North America, an integrator and manufacturer of liquid-injection propane systems for commercial and consumer vehicles, has announced an installation program for 140 propane autogas Ford F-150 pickup trucks for use by Menards home improvement stores throughout Illinois.
Icom North America will upfit its JTG II Liquid Injection Propane System on Menards fleet of Ford F-150 pickups equipped with a 3.7L engine. The project begins with the upfitting of vehicles in 36 Illinois stores and one Wisconsin store providing pickups for customer rentals and general store services. Icom-trained Installer Metro Motors of Cicero, Ill., is performing the installations.
The patented Icom JTG II Liquid Injection Propane System will provide Menards vehicles with excellent performance and drivability, producing significant cost savings for the company, according to Icom. The project will potentially expand to other Midwest-based Menards stores, providing a greener, more efficient fleet for the home improvement retailer committed to using propane as an alternative fuel.
"The Icom-Menards project clearly identifies what strides can be made when a large national fleet works in close cooperation with companies like Icom North America, CleanFUEL USA, and Ferrellgas," said Albert Venezio , chairman of Icom North America.
"We're glad to be advancing our company forward into this growing market since propane is a cleaner burning fuel and less expensive, so it's a win-win for everyone," added Jeff Abbott , a Menards spokesperson.
Approximately 150,000 vehicles worldwide have been equipped with the Icom JTG Propane System since 2004. JTG II includes an enhanced multi-valve for rapid filling and an integrated fuel pump for ease of service and is now available for approximately 600 vehicle platforms.
According to the manufacturer, the JTG II system often delivers substantial fuel economy improvements when compared to propane-vapor-injection systems, as well as increased power, torque, and performance.
