WASHINGTON - Medtec Ambulance Corp., based in Indiana, is recalling 87 model-year 2010 Type II ambulance vans because of a potential seat belt problem, according to the National Highway Safety Traffic Association.
The rear-facing ambulance attendant seat uses a steel floor reinforcement plate on the bottom side of the aluminum floor substructure, and the reinforcement plate is missing in some ambulance bodies. In the event of a crash, the seat belt assembly anchorage may disconnect from the floor, causing the assembly to fail to restrain the seat occupant. This poses a safety risk.
