Mazda is recalling 57,878 2015- and 2016-model year Mazda6 sedans in the U.S. because a problem with the occupant classification system wiring might lead to a loss of power steering assist or the deactivation of the front passenger air bag.
The problem stems from welding debris created during the manufacture of the front passenger seat frame. This debris can damage the occupant classification system (OCS) wiring, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
