Mazda3 Recalled for Air Bag, Seat Belt Indicators
Mazda North American Operations is recalling approximately 17,016 2019 Mazda3 compact sedans and hatchbacks due to incorrect programming. The passenger air bag deactivation indicator light may mistakenly turn off although the passenger air bag is deactivated.

Mazda North American Operations is recalling approximately 17,016 2019 Mazda3 compact sedans and hatchbacks due to incorrect programming. The passenger air bag deactivation indicator light may mistakenly turn off although the passenger air bag is deactivated.
In addition, the seat belt status indicators for both the front passenger seat and/or rear seats may incorrectly turn off even while the front passenger and/or rear seat belts are unfastened.
Both of these scenarios can lead the driver and occupants of the vehicle to be unaware of deactivated air bags or unfastened seat belts, which would increase the chances of injury.
To remedy the problem, Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag/seat belt status indicator assembly at no cost to customers.
The recall begins July 13. Owners can reach Mazda customer service at (800) 222-5500, option 4. Mazda's reference number for this recall is 3319E.
