Indian automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced a proactive and voluntary recall of 19,731 units of its EECO cargo vans to inspect and rectify “incorrect marking of wheel rim size.”
According to the company, a routine inspection found in some EECO units, manufactured between July 19 and October 5, 2021, the wheel rim size was incorrectly marked. This issue has no implication on performance, safety or environment.
Maruti Suzuki authorized workshops are contacting all affected vehicle owners to schedule vehicle inspection and, if necessary, rectification.
Customers can visit the ‘Imp Customer Info’ section on the company’s website to fill in their vehicle chassis number (MA3 followed by 14-digit alpha-numeric number) to determine if their vehicle is covered by the recall. The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and included in the vehicle invoice/registration documents.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited, is based in New Delhi. Founded in 1981, the company was acquired in 2003 by Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor Corporation.
