Logistics company Imperial Cargo, based in South Africa and Namibia, has expanded its fleet with 60 MAN TGS 26.440 semitrailer tractors intended for long-haul transport. These 60 new trucks will clock up a monthly average of 16,000 km and approximately 200,000 km per year, according to the company. They will replace the 44 current MAN TGS 26.440 models.

Christo Theron, managing director of the Imperial Cargo Group, is counting on positive experiences with MAN TGS. “We conduct intensive tests on all of the new trucks that form part of the fleet, especially in relation to fuel consumption. The MAN TGS 26.440s in our long-haul fleet offer outstanding fuel consumption – ten percent less than other models in the fleet,” Theron said.

Imperial Cargo´s trucks are mostly running with two trailers. “Each truck transports a payload of around 36 tons. The TGS strikes the perfect balance between performance, payload and decent fuel consumption, meaning we achieve a total cost of operation which sets new standards. Our drivers are thrilled with MAN trucks, because they are comfortable and easy to drive. The customer service we receive from the MAN Cape Town branch is of great importance to us – response times are short and we maintain regular contact when scheduling upcoming maintenance. MAN engineers also work directly on-site in our workshops. So we are able to maximise lifespans and get back on the road as soon as possible,” Theron said.

Imperial Cargo has branches in South Africa and Namibia, and transports freight into neighboring countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, Botswana, and Mozambique.
