Lincoln Motor Co. Developing an EV With Rivian
This vehicle will mark the first fully electric vehicle under the Lincoln nameplate and will help advance Lincoln’s electrification plan.

With the addition of a new luxury electric vehicle into Lincoln’s lineup, production of the MKZ sedan will cease in 2020.

The Lincoln Motor Co. will develop a new all-electric vehicle with Rivian, the company announced.
This vehicle will mark the first fully electric vehicle under the Lincoln nameplate and will help advance Lincoln’s electrification plan, which currently includes the Aviator and Corsair Grand Touring plug-in hybrid vehicles.
“Working with Rivian marks a pivotal point for Lincoln as we move toward a future that includes fully electric vehicles,” said Joy Falotico, president, The Lincoln Motor Company. “This vehicle will take Quiet Flight to a new place – zero emissions, effortless performance and connected and intuitive technology. It’s going to be stunning.”
As Lincoln adds this new EV to its portfolio, the company will stop producing the MKZ sedan in 2020 in order to produce new Ford vehicles at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico.
Lincoln’s new EV will be built off of Rivian’s skateboard platform and is part of Ford Motor Co.’s planned equity investment in Rivian. This vehicle is also part of the more than $11.5 billion that Ford previously announced it would be investing into electrification. Other planned EVs from Ford include the Mustang Mach-E and the all-electric F-150.
