LeasePlan Fleet Management (I) Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of LeasePlan Corp., — brought together vehicle manufactures and corporate users for a fleet test on Nov. 7, the first of its kind to be held in Mumbai. Earlier, LeasePlan conducted similar fleet tests in Delhi. The fleet test involved a two-day drive from Mumbai to Chiplun and back, and was designed to showcase the features, specifications, options and benefits offered by each of the latest models to corporate decision-makers and to evaluate the vehicles based on set parameters. LeasePlan India also provided an interface between the vehicle manufacturers and the fleet test invitees at a breakfast meeting from where the fleet test was flagged off. Vehicles in the fleet test were the Chevrolet Optra, Opel Vectra, Toyota Corolla and Camry, Honda Accord, Skoda Octavia, Ford Mondeo, and Hyundai Sonata. Vehicles were manned by a driver (the invitees) and navigator (the LeasePlan team). In addition, there was a pilot vehicle and a road assistance vehicle to lend support en route if required. The distance covered on both days was 674 km (418 mi), with changeover points every 80-100 km. At the changeover points, invitees were to swap vehicles after completing evaluations on the previous car. The route was plotted to cover every type of road condition. Participants included, among others, decision makers from ABN AMRO Bank, Morgan Stanley, DHL, J.Walter Thompson, and Taj Hotels.
