L.A. Port Highlights Clean Trucks Program's Progress
LOS ANGELES --- Port of Los Angeles officials announced that nearly 59 percent of the cargo containers passing through the port in June were hauled by clean trucks that meet or exceed 2007 federal emissions standards.
LOS ANGELES --- Port of Los Angeles officials announced that nearly 59 percent of the cargo containers passing through the port in June were hauled by clean trucks that meet or exceed 2007 federal emissions standards.
More than 5,000 compliant trucks have come into service at the port since Oct. 1, when the Clean Trucks Program launched, port spokeswoman Theresa Adams-Lopez told the Daily Breeze newspaper.
That number is expected to climb further as port officials launch an alternative-fuel vehicle funding program. That program is expected to place up to 500 new, ultra-low emissions vehicles on the road.
