Kruse Leaves GM to Start EV Consulting Firm
DETROIT --- Bob Kruse, General Motors' executive director of global vehicle engineering for hybrids, electric vehicles and batteries, on Sept. 30 resigned his position, the Detroit News reported.
DETROIT --- Bob Kruse, General Motors' executive director of global vehicle engineering for hybrids, electric vehicles and batteries, on Sept. 30 resigned his position, the Detroit News reported.
Kruse will be succeeded by Micky Bly, who already has considerable experience working with hybrid and electric vehicles.
Kruse, 50, has reportedly left GM after a 31-year career there to start his own consulting company, EV Consulting LLC. EV Consulting will advise clients developing the next generation of batteries and electric vehicles.
"My departure from General Motors has nothing to do with my view of the future success for the Volt," Kruse told the Detroit News on Tuesday, Sept. 29. "I've left on very good terms. I have a lot of respect for the leadership of General Motors." However, he acknowledged that GM is probably not happy about his departure.
The automaker has made the extended-range electric Volt a priority. Its target for production is November 2010.
