Kenworth and PacLease announced a new introductory lease program for the new Kenworth K270E and K370E battery-electric vehicles.

The six-year lease from PacLease features a lower monthly payment in the first year, followed by a regular payment for the remaining years. The lease offer can be used in conjunction with regional and state grants available for battery-electric vehicles.

With the advent of electric trucks becoming a reality, PacLease is finding high interest from customers wanting to explore going green by leasing Kenworth as well as Peterbilt medium-duty cabover battery-electric trucks.

“It’s been a very positive reaction,” said Mike Willey, PacLease’s assistant general manager. “By being able to offer the full package – the trucks, financing, and maintenance – along with charging stations through PACCAR’s collaboration with Schneider Electric and Faith Technologies – we can offer a turnkey package. A lease program with PacLease provides a great way to experience zero-emission trucks for an all-inclusive lease payment.”

Orders must be received by Oct. 31, 2020, to be eligible. The program is available in the United States and Canada.

According to Willey, each new lease is very customizable, with flexible lease terms of up to six years.

“We’re here to consult with our customers – from finding any state or federal grant money that might be available, to selecting the right truck and specs for the route intended, to the placement of the charging stations,” he said. “Our customers don’t have to go-it-alone – we’re here to make it all work seamlessly. We don’t simply lease the trucks; we lease the program to ensure it all comes together without headaches down the road.”

Willey said PacLease is finding a growing number of customers looking to go green and want to put their toe in the water to see how the trucks work and see if electric trucks can be a part of their future. “We feel the best way to do that is with a Full-Service Lease program from PacLease. It simplifies the process and ensures uptime with a fine-tuned maintenance program. We will work closely with our customers to ensure their entry into the electric truck era is a success.”

Kenworth K270E and K370E cabovers are ideal for local pickup and delivery and short-haul operations. The comfortable, quiet K270E and K370E cab offer three-person seating, easy access, excellent visibility, and touchscreen display.

The E-trucks can be used in various applications – spec’ed as either a truck with multiple box configuration sizes available – or as a tandem axle tractor.

The Kenworth medium-duty electric vehicles possess a tight turning radius, enough horsepower to maintain 40 mph on a 6% grade while fully loaded, and enough torque to start the load from a stop on a 20% grade, according to the OEM.

Kenworth battery-electric vehicles offer two direct-drive motors rated at 355 hp and 469 hp, depending on the application. The electric powertrain is available with high-density battery packs of 141kWh and 282kWh that deliver up to 100- and 200-mile range, respectively.

The K270E and K370E utilize a DC fast-charging system capable of fast re-charge as quickly as one hour. End-of-shift and overnight AC charging also is offered.

The K270E and K370E offer low maintenance costs aided by regenerative braking that extends brake pad life, and there is convenient access for easy serviceability. The two models have a simple and compact chassis layout and offer multiple body configurations. Wheelbases of 206 inches (24-foot box bodies), 218 inches (26-foot box bodies), and 274 inches (30-foot box bodies) are available.
