KAR Auction Services has named John Hammer as president of ADESA following a resignation of Stéphane St-Hilaire, who served as CEO and president of ADESA since 2014.
St-Hilaire will remain at ADESA through February to facilitate the transition.
Hammer previously served as CEO of KAR’s Automotive Finance Corp. business before leaving in 2016. He will be officially returning to the company on Feb. 26, 2018 to assume the post of president, according to KAR Auction Services.
He will be reporting directly to Jim Hallett, chairman and KAR's CEO.
Hammer will oversee all ADESA operations, which include 75 auction locations throughout North America. Additionally, he will be focusing on integrating new technology into ADESA’s online and physical auction marketplaces and expanding the company’s product and service offerings.
During his time away from the KAR Auction Services family of companies, Hammer served as CEO of U.S. Auto Sales, Inc.
