Jerry Marlow, owner of Idaho Auto Auction, which he operated in partnership with his son, Steve Marlow, and his daughter, Diana Humphrey, died on July 11, 2002. Marlow was born in Marshfield, MO in 1937, but grew up in Hoquiam, WA. He was introduced to his life's work, the automobile business, in Seattle, where he was hired by British Motor Car distributors as the parts manager. After operating British Motor Car dealerships in Spokane and Kennewick, WA, he ventured into the wholesale auction industry as a partner in the Tri-Cities Auto Auction in 1975, and shortly thereafter held interests in Puget Sound Auto Auction and Idaho Auto Auction as well. In 1986 he assumed principal ownership of Idaho Auto Auction, which he operated with his son and daughter until his death. Marlow was active in many industry organizations, including the National Auto Auction Association, Idaho State Dealers Association, Idaho Auto Dealers Association, and Washington Independent Auto Dealers Association, where he served as a board member for many years.
