The chief executive officer of Jaguar Land Rover, Thierry Bolloré, has announced he retire from the company December 31. 

Bolloré said it was for personal reasons.

A statement from the company said that executive board member Adrian Mardell would take over as interim CEO. Mardell has worked at Jaguar Land Rover for 32 years.

Regarding his announcement, Bolloré said: “I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together at Jaguar Land Rover over the last two years. The company's transformation and acceleration towards a sustainable, profitable future as a modern luxury business is underway at great pace. I would like to thank the whole team for their dedication and passion and I wish the entire organization the very best for the future.”

Bolloré, who joined Tata Motors’ owned Jaguar Land Rover from Renault two years ago, has led the electric transformation of Jaguar Land Rover under the “reimagine” slogan. As part of this strategy every Land Rover is due to have an electric drivetrain by end 2030; and Jaguar to be a luxury electric car maker from 2025.

Tata chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran said: "I want to thank Thierry for everything he has done at Jaguar Land Rover. The foundations for a successful transformation have been laid, leaving the company well poised for the future."
