LANSING, MI - Paul Douglas Heberling, previously of GM Fleet Operations, passed away on June 8 with his family by his side.
LANSING, MI - Paul Douglas Heberling, previously of GM Fleet Operations, passed away on June 8 with his family by his side. Heberling was born in Lansing, Mich., on February 16, 1932 to Paul E. and Lorilla E. (Work) Heberling. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane (Corbin) Heberling; daughters, Paula Barker, Lisa Heberling, Judy (Jim) Chovan, and Janine Heberling; sons, Mike and Don Heberling; one sister, Jill Heberling; grandchildren, Joanna and Caryn Heberling, Steven Douglas Heberling, James Barker, and Jamie Chovan; and his great-granddaughters, Aaleah and Jaylin Carter.
Heberling graduated from Sexton High in January 1950, and served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1954 stationed in the Washington, D.C. area. He taught reading classes after graduating from the University of Detroit in May 1958.
He was employed by Oldsmobile Division of General Motors from 1961-1992 in the home office, Memphis, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco zones in several sales and marketing positions. Doug's fleet career began in Oldsmobile's San Francisco Zone in 1980, which eventually evolved into GM Fleet Operations where he retired in July 1997 to Gilbert, Ariz. Heberling was best known for his keen sense of humor and his lifelong interest in learning.
