FRINK
ROCHESTER, MI – George Frink, former executive director of General Motors NAO Consolidated Fleet Operations, long-time fleet director for Chevrolet Division, and fleet industry icon, passed away from cancer in Rochester Thursday, Oct. 25. He was 70.
Frink joined GM in 1966. Ford and Chrysler were well into their first post-war incentive and daily rental buyback or lease programs by the mid-1960s. By 1966, these programs were having a serious negative impact on General Motors, so GM decided to beef up their corporate fleet activity through the GM Fleet Section. Their man for the job was George Frink.
In 1974, Frink was named director of fleet sales at the Buick division and in 1976 he was promoted to director of marketing for the division. In 1978 Frink succeeded Robert Berg and was promoted to Chevrolet Division director of fleet sales. In 1992, when General Motors consolidated its divisional fleet operations, Frink was named director of the newly created GM North American Operations (NAO) Consolidated Fleet Operations.
Frink worked in the fleet business for 30 years, retiring from GM in August, 1996. If you asked Frink how he happened onto the fleet industry, he would probably answer “It just happened that way going west.” After retiring from General Motors, Frink relocated to Arizona where he lived until three years ago before returning to Rochester, Mich.
A good friend of the fleet industry, he will be missed.
Services for Frink will be held at:
Pixley Funeral Home

Contributions will go to the Ralph Young Fund or to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
Special Note: John Rock, retired Oldsmobile and GMC Truck General Manager, and long-time fixture at GM Fleet Operations, is currently in serious condition at the Mayo Clinic fighting cancer.
