Hyundai Unveils Smartwatch App for Its Vehicles

Owners of 2015 model-year Hyundai vehicles will be able to connect to their cars using a smartwatch app that integrates with the automaker's Blue Link infotainment system.

Owners of 2015 model-year Hyundai vehicles will be able to connect to their cars using a smartwatch app that integrates with the automaker's Blue Link infotainment system.

Hyundai is demonstrating the app with a wearbale device for attendees of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas at Pepcom's Digital Experience on Jan. 5.

The app allows a user to start a Hyundai car remotely from the watch interface. The wearer can tap an icon or use voice commands to lock and unlock doors, find his or her car in a crowded parking lot, remote flash lights and honk horn, and call for roadside assitance.

The Blue Link smartwatch app works with first and next generation Blue Link equipped Hyundai models. The first generation Blue Link system rolled out on the 2012 Sonata and continued through the 2013 model year. The next generation Blue Link equipped models include the 2015 Genesis, sonata and Azera.

The Blue Link smartwatch app works anywhere in the U.S. and where there is an internet connection. The Blue link smartwatch app is available on Samsung, Motorola, Sony and LG smartwatches. Android Wear users can download the app from Google Play for free starting this year.
