Hyundai Recalls ‘07 and ‘08 Elantra for Air Bag Issue
WASHINGTON - NHTSA announced that Hyundai is recalling 95,783 2007-2008 model-year Elantra vehicles.
WASHINGTON – NHTSA announced that Hyundai is recalling 95,783 Elantra vehicles from 2007-2008 model-year manufactured from July 14, 2006 through August 29, 2007, for an issue related to the pressure at which the driver’s side air bag can deploy.
NHTSA stated that the air bag control module can receive an unstable electrical signal from the seat track position sensor, which determines the pressure at which the air bag deploys, which would cause the air bag to deploy at a pressure higher than normal, potentially causing injuries. To resolve this issue, Hyundai dealers will repair the air bag control module free of charge. NHTSA stated it expects the recall to begin during April 2011.
