Hyundai has reduced the price of its base 2018 Sonata Plug-In Hybrid by $1,350 to $34,135, including a $885 delivery fee, and increased the model's all-electric and overall driving range while upgrading the interior of the midsize sedan, the automaker has announced.
The Sonata PHEV will now be able to drive 28 miles on electric power and provide 600 miles of range with a powertrain that pairs a 2.0-liter GDI four-cylinder engine with a 50-kilowatt electric motor that's 32% more powerful (67 horsepower). The vehicle increases total range by 10% from the 2017 model. A 9.8 kilowatt-per-hour lithium-ion battery pack is also five times larger than the system used on the Sonata Hybrid. It can achieve a full charge on a 240-volt circuit (Level 2) in 2 hours, 42 minutes. Power is delivered through a six-speed automatic transmission.
