Honda announced on April 1 that its dealerships nationwide would kick-off Honda Car Care Days starting April 3. Participating dealers will provide free Honda vehicle inspections in conjunction with the National Car Care Council’s “National Car Care Month,” a nationwide effort by businesses, civic groups and other organizations to direct motorists’ attention on the need to maintain and repair their vehicles. Honda Car Care Days focuses awareness on the importance of vehicle maintenance and repair in order to improve highway safety, air quality and fuel conservation. To help Honda maintain the reliability of their vehicles, participating Honda dealers will offer free, 40-point inspections for items such as front and rear brake condition, major fluid levels, drive belt operation, and tire wear. Trained technicians will perform these inspections and provide Honda owners with detailed, written reports on their vehicle’s condition and expert advice on future care and maintenance. According to the National Car Care Council, some of the most common areas of vehicle neglect are under inflated tires and incorrect wheel alignment, which can give up a mile or two per gallon on a car that typically delivers 20 miles per gallon. To further highlight Honda’s environmental commitment, the company has partnered with American Forests to plant a tree for each free inspection that is performed. American Forests is a nonprofit citizens’ conservation organization dedicated to the restoration and maintenance of forest ecosystems. In turn, the total number of trees planted by Honda will be matched by the National Forest Service, doubling the number of trees planted. Honda and American Forests anticipate a minimum of 100,000 trees to be planted in wildfire-devastated areas that are in desperate need of new tree growth.
