SEARCHAmerican Honda Motor Co. is recalling an estimated 118,598 2019 CR-V vehicles because the metal core of the steering wheel may have burrs. These can damage the harnesses routed within, possibly disabling the driver’s air bag or causing it to deploy unexpectedly.
In the event of a collision, a malfunctioning air bag would increase the likelihood of injury.

American Honda Motor Co. is recalling an estimated 118,598 2019 CR-V vehicles because the metal core of the steering wheel may have burrs. These can damage the harnesses routed within, possibly disabling the driver’s air bag or causing it to deploy unexpectedly.
In the event of a collision, a malfunctioning air bag would increase the likelihood of injury. In addition, an air bag that deploys without warning is hazardous, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
To remedy the matter, Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a protective cover on the steering wheel core as well as replace clockspring and the harnesses within, at no cost to owners.
The recall begins on July 8. Owners can reach Honda customer service at (888) 234-2138. Honda’s reference number for this recall is R4S.
