WASHINGTON – American Honda Motor Co. is issuing two vehicle recalls – one involving 8,709 2012 model-year Acura MDX and Honda Pilot vehicles, and another involving 45,747 2008-2009 model-year Odyssey minivans.
The Odyssey recall concerns the gas-filled struts that help to raise and support the liftgate. Odysseys equipped with a power liftgate system may be prone to early life failures because of a manufacturing flaw, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This flaw could result in a leak of the pressurized gas, leading to reduced strut performance and posing a safety risk.
