Honda Recalling CR-Z Cars
WASHINGTON– American Honda Motor Co. is recalling 5,626 model-year 2011 CR-Z vehicles with manual transmission, the NHTSA said, because of a potential problem involving the electric motor of the hybrid system.
WASHINGTON – American Honda Motor Co. is recalling 5,626 model-year 2011 CR-Z vehicles with manual transmission, the NHTSA said, because of a potential problem involving the electric motor of the hybrid system.
If the engine stalls while the brake pedal is not pressed, the engine control unit (ECU) software has the potential to cause the electric motor of the hybrid system to move the vehicle unexpectedly in the opposite direction of the selected gear. This poses a safety risk.
The vehicles covered by the recall were all manufactured from Jan. 8, 2010 through June 27, 2011.
Dealers will update the ECU software free of charge to resolve the problem. This recall is expected to begin later this month.
