Honda provided details on its all-new 2014 Accord Hybrid, which is set to go on sale in the fall of this year. The 2014 Accord Hybrid features Honda’s new two-motor hybrid powertrain that includes a 124-kW electric motor and an all-new 2.0L DOHT i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine.

The new hybrid system allows drivers of the Accord Hybrid to switch among three different driving modes, including EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive. In EV Drive, the vehicle can run in electric-only mode at lower speeds and in medium- to high-speed cruising, whereas Engine Drive sends power directly to the Accord’s front wheels. For fuel economy, Honda is expecting EPA fuel-economy ratings of 49 city, 45 highway, 47 combined.

For safety, the 2014 Accord Hybrid features the automaker’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure and the new SmartVent front-side airbags.

The 2014 Accord Hybrid is the first Honda hybrid to be assembled in Ohio and the second to be built in the U.S., according to the company.

Inside, the 2014 Accord Hybrid features a number of safety functions, including the LaneWatch blind-spot monitoring system, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and a multi-angle rearview camera with guide lines.
