MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, PA – Harley-Davidson Transportation Co. Inc is cutting 77 non-union drivers in the process of closing its domestic fleet operations in Manchester Township, Pa., according to the York Dispatch.
Harley announced its plans in January to discontinue its domestic transportation fleet operation, a group of trucks that transports components between Harley facilities. The company said this group represents less than 20 percent of the company's transportation department.
The Manchester plant, at 75 Steam Boat Boulevard, is expected to close on April 4. Within two weeks of that date, all employees will be terminated, according to a letter Harley sent to the state's Department of Labor & Industry.
The layoffs are part of 425 York County job cuts Harley announced last month. Those include 325 union jobs at the Harley plant in Springettsbury Township. The 77 truck drivers are among the 100 non-union job cuts Harley announced at that time.
