PONTIAC, MI — Guidepoint Systems has begun shipping its GSM-based tracking fleet management solution to Northbrook, Ill.-based Donlen Corp. The Pontiac-based supplier of stolen vehicle recovery, driver safety/convenience, and fleet solutions said the initial units being shipped would be used to outfit a mobile installation workforce fleet of more than 250 vehicles. Donlen Corp. will provide system installation and fleet management services to the fleet operator, which maintains one of the largest fleets in its industry. The Guidepoint fleet solution, which operates on the nationwide Cingular Wireless GSM/GPRS/EDGE network, is targeted to small- and mid-size enterprises with fleets of 200-300 vehicles. Guidepoint offers the features most desired by fleet operators, including history reporting, stop reporting, and location-based tracking. Additionally, Guidepoint’s fleet solution offers an op-tional in-vehicle panic button, with 24/7/365 response center assistance and stolen vehicle recovery and emergency support.
