LONDON, U.K. --- GreenRoad Technologies, a leader in driver safety technologies, recently  won the Fleet Safety Product Award at the annual Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence in the U.K.

The Fleet Safety Forum runs the awards program to recognize the outstanding achievements of those working to help reduce the one in four road deaths involving an at-work driver. The forum is a division of Brake, a national road safety charity. Brake works to prevent death and injury on the roads and also assists people who have been affected by major road collisions.

The Fleet Safety Product Award was presented at a Brake gala dinner on Friday, June 6. In addition to Safety Center's recognition as the product that does the most to improve fleet safety through technology, GreenRoad customer T-Mobile was highly commended in the Company Driver Safety Award. T-Mobile was acknowledged for its success in reducing accidents and making its drivers safer using GreenRoad Safety Center.

In addition, HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO, the patron of RoadSafe, recently presented a business "champion" certificate to Nigel Wilkinson, head of health, safety and environment at T-Mobile. The certificate, endorsed by the Transport Minister Jim Fitzpatrick, salutes the company's commitment to the government-backed Driving for Better Business program. The program is aimed at developing a network of employers from all industries to reduce the frequency and severity of at-work road crashes.

"It is inspiring that Brake and RoadSafe have recognized both GreenRoad and T-Mobile's dedicated contribution to fleet safety. Since the introduction of the new corporate manslaughter laws, many more businesses are taking driver safety more seriously," said Aidan Rowsome, vice president of GreenRoad EMEA. "T-Mobile was one of those pioneering companies who didn't wait for legislation; they were one of the first to adopt technology to make their fleet of service drivers safer. In the process they have both reduced accidents and fuel consumption."

According to GreenRoad, its clients reduce accidents by an average of 54 percent, lower fuel consumption by 7–10 percent, and decrease accident costs by an average of 65 percent. GreenRoad Safety Center rates driving skills without invading the driver's privacy or tracking driver location. An in-vehicle sensor collects information on over 120 different driving manuevers. These are constantly analyzed to give drivers feedback about their driving and the areas that need improvement.

By empowering drivers to manage their own safety, and understand how to drive more responsibly, GreenRoad improves driver safety behind the wheel, the company said.
