One of Google's autonomous vehicles was pulled over because it was driving too slowly, reported the New York Times. The vehicle was traveling at 24 mph in a 35 mph zone. 

A Mountain View police officer almost issued the self-driving car a ticket because of its slow speeds. The vehicle was also the source of traffic congestion. 

Under the California Vehicle Code, the self-driving cars are allowed to operate on streets that have a speed limit of 35 mph, stated the police. 

Google's autonomous vehicles have been in 16 crashes since 2009, according to the company. And, most of those crashes were due to human error, not the software or self-driving car itself. 

No ticket was issued. The technology company also stated that its vehicles have not been ticketed.
