BLUE ASH, OH - AMP Holding Inc., a company specializing in the all-electric, emission-free conversion of GM vehicles, has hired longtime General Motors executives Mark Valerio and John Gatt as consultants.
Valerio's extensive career at GM included dealer network development, worldwide real estate and facility image management and oversight of dealer franchising activities for all GM brands in the Northeast.
"The electrification of the automobile is gaining momentum daily," said Valerio. "I'm pleased to be part of a team that is leading the effort of bringing these fuel-efficient vehicles to market, and very excited to be working alongside several of the key contributors to the GM EV1 program."
Valerio and Gatt join an AMP consulting team that also includes GM veterans Bill Wylam and Dennis Davis.
AMP was founded in 2007. The company's first models converted to all-electric are the GM Sky, Pontiac Solstice and Chevrolet Equinox. AMP said it will be electrifying a wide range of GM vehicles and expects to announce new model additions in 2010.
Gatt has more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and management in the automotive field. Most recently, he served as the director of IT development and implementation for Hummer LLC. During his career at GM, Gatt also served as the general director of the automaker's global retail integration team and director of global retail processes.
Last month, AMP's all-electric GM Sky reached 100 miles per gallon equivalent (mpge) highway in the Progressive Automotive X Prize finals. One of eight finalists in its category, the AMP entry was the only commercially produced, non-concept vehicle in the finals to achieve this certification.
